About Macau: the back story

Macau is a separate Special Administrative Region, reached by fast ferry from Sheung Wan and Kowloon or by bus across the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge. Hong Kong has no casinos; Macau does.

Getting there

TurboJET and Cotai Water Jet run fast ferries; the bridge is 55 km long (hzmb.gov.hk).

The old town

Senado Square’s wave-patterned paving leads into the old town; the Macao Government Tourism Office has the details (macaotourism.gov.mo).

Take your passport: there is immigration at both ends.

Our advice: check Macau’s own entry rules for your nationality before you go.
