The ULTIMATE Choice
When you see this badge on a restaurant, hotel, bar or shop's website, it means one thing: our editorial team selected that place for the ULTIMATE Hong Kong City Guide 2027.
What the badge means
- SelectedThe place is in our guide because we think it is worth your time.
- IndependentNo one pays to be included, and no one can pay for the badge.
- Not a ratingThere are no stars, scores or rankings. The badge says a place was chosen, nothing more.
How we choose
Our lists draw on respected guides, local knowledge and what recent visitors say. We look for quality, character and a real sense of place: somewhere a local would happily send a friend. A small, family-run spot can earn its place as surely as a famous name, and we leave out places that are tired or not as good as their reputation.
We check every listing against its own website and maps, and review the lists regularly. Advertising and the photos businesses send us never change whether or where a place appears. More on how we choose.
For readers
Click the badge on a venue's website and it takes you to that venue's page on our guide, with what we wrote about it, the address and a map. If you see the badge somewhere that doesn't link to us, or on a business that isn't in the guide, please let us know at info@ultimateinternationalcityguide.com.
For listed businesses
If your business is in the guide, you're welcome to show the badge on your website, menus or social posts. There is no fee, using it is up to you, and your listing doesn't depend on it. Our badge page has the badge in four styles, ready-made code that links it to your listing, and files to download.

Questions
Can a business pay for the badge or for a place in the guide?
No. Selection is made by our editorial team, and neither the badge nor a place on our lists can be bought.
Do listed businesses have to display it?
No. It's entirely optional, and a listing stays exactly the same whether or not the badge is used.
Does the badge mean a place is better than others in the guide?
No. Every place in the guide is selected in the same way, and the badge looks the same for all of them. It is not an award, a score or a ranking.
How long does it apply?
The badge carries the year of the edition, 2027. If a place leaves the guide, we ask it to take the badge down.
