Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden
Built without a nail
About Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden
Chi Lin Nunnery, one of the city’s most important Buddhist sanctums, follows Tang-dynasty architecture and was the first complex in Hong Kong built without a single nail; next door, Nan Lian Garden has permanent exhibitions and a vegetarian restaurant beneath a man-made waterfall (HKTB). Temples are places of worship: speak quietly, ask before photographing people at prayer, and follow the signs for incense.
